GrinderCrusherScreen Introduces two new Density Separator Models

GrinderCrusherScreen has just introduced the GCS Waste Density Wizard 1000 and 1200 Models of density separators. This machine will take a co-mingled product such as a mixture of wood, rocks, dirt and plastic and separate it into piles of similar products. Density separators have been available for years; however, the Waste Density Wizard consists of only one machine that will screen the material, air separate the light film plastic or paper, water separate the rocks from the wood, and pull out the sludge all in one compact machine.

According to Company President Neal Kaiserman, “At GrinderCrusherScreen we deal with recyclers from across the U.S. and overseas and the demand for one machine to separate fines, film plastic/paper, rocks and wood is a common need. Until recently, customers would have to use picking stations and other technologies to achieve this task.”

The Waste Density Wizards are designed for C&D yards, wood waste yards, MSW and compost yards. Most C&D yards take in a variety of materials such as wood, brick, concrete, steel, plastic, etc.. These materials are sometime shredded by a high torque, slow speed shredder to simplify the hauling process. Once this co-mingled material comes into the C&D yard, it is recommended that all of the material be run through a screening plant to remove the material larger than 12 in. and also remove the fines (1/2 inch minus).

All of the remaining material can be run under a magnet and inert separator and into the Waste Wizard resulting in a pile of wood, a pile of plastic, a pile of aggregate, a pile of excess dirt and a small pile of sludge. The advantage of clean materials makes the wood now marketable to be used for fuel and the aggregate for construction.

Another application is for wood waste yards that utilize wood grinders to make fuel or mulch. Many times the film plastic and rocks have to be removed to make this a premium, highly sought out material. The Waste Density Wizard will achieve this task.

MSW is another market where density separation is needed. The Waste Density Wizard can separate glass from plastic, remove film plastic such as plastic bags and many other materials.

Lastly, compost sites have issues with film plastic and rocks in their material. In many sites, the compost is screened and the “overs” which consist of wood, waste plastic and rocks are returned back to the windrows. This process repeats itself over and over again and the result is a finished screened material with small pieces of plastic bags and rocks in the material. The “overs” should be run directly from the screening plant into the Waste Wizard to remove the film plastic and rocks from this material. The clean wood would then be returned back to the windrow allowing for a considerably cleaner compost, according to the manufacturer.
