Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has signed an agreement to divest the North American Blaw-Knox paver business and associated assets to asphalt equipment manufacturer Gencor Industries (Gencor).
The Blaw-Knox business and associated assets will shift to Gencor, including the transfer of the manufacturing production line currently located in Shippensburg, Pa.
“In my opinion this is an exciting, challenging and sometimes even a very frustrating time to be in the hot mix asphalt business. Every week it seems something new or different is taking place. I’ve been in the industry for many years now and have never seen this many changes in such a short period of time,” said Charles Scott, owner, B & S Contracting Inc.
If there’s a road to pave, asphalt to lay or a surface to smooth, B & J Excavating of Downingtown, PA, is armed for the job with a new Blaw-Knox PF-4410.
The paver, purchased from Elliott & Frantz Inc., King of Prussia, PA, allows B & J to offer one-stop shopping.
Payne & Dolan Inc., Waukesha, WI, is constantly upgrading and improving its equipment spread. This includes both the addition of new Blaw-Knox PF-3200 pavers, a new RW-100A road widener, and increased emphasis on working safety.
The terms safety and technology are, according to Robert “Rocky” Rockenbach, equipment manager, Payne & Dolan, mutually accommodating, and are something to be embraced by any asphalt contractor seeking success.
