PANAMA CITY (AP) Authorities hosted a big bash to inaugurate newly expanded locks that will double the Panama Canal's capacity in a multibillion-dollar bet on a bright economic future despite tough times for international shipping. Volvo Construction Equipment North America’s Illinois dealer, McAllister Equipment Co. of Alsip (Chicago), Ill., will acquire Volvo Construction Equipment & Services (VCES) branches located in Villa Park and Springfield, Ill. The purchase of the two VCES branches was announced in a joint statement by Jack Moser, president of McAllister Equipment, and Tim Frank, senior vice president of operations and strategy for Volvo Construction Equipment North America.

Jack Moser, president and CEO of McAllister Equipment Co., has opened a Volvo Rents franchise in Rockford, Ill. The new Volvo Rents center, an independently owned and operated franchise, carries equipment for the construction, commercial and industrial markets, including Volvo compact excavators and wheel loaders and backhoe and skid-steer loaders.

McAllister Equipment Co. has appointed Trish Maher as vice president of administration. Maher previously spent more than five years with McAllister as communications manager. She has more than 13 years of experience at both the manufacturing and distribution levels of the construction equipment industry.

McAllister Equipment Co. (MEC) hosted a ground-breaking ceremony Nov. 29 for its new branch, located on 5958 Columbia Parkway in Rockford, Ill. The 18,000 sq. ft. facility will open in April 2008, housing Volvo Rents and a heavy equipment store. Present were McAllister management; William Charles Investments executives; Ragnar Benson associates; Scott Christiansen, Winnebago County board chairman; Einar Forsman, president, Rockford Chamber of Commerce; Jim Ryan, City of Rockford administrator; and press representatives from local TV stations and newspapers.
