Four of North America's leading truck manufacturers have announced they will unveil new vehicles at The Work Truck Show 2018. Chevrolet Commercial Vehicles will reveal its Silverado 4500HD and 5500HD chassis cab trucks. Ford Commercial Vehicles will launch a new commercial vehicle.
Tracey Road Equipment celebrated its 40th anniversary with an open house on Oct. 6, at its Syracuse, N.Y., headquarters. Contractors and municipalities from across New York State were invited to view the latest advancements and technologies in road building, excavation, trucking, and road maintenance equipment.
Callanan Industries’s two Euclid 25-ton (22.7 t) rigid frame trucks were like the company’s Old Yeller. Each had served the company loyally since 1968. Age was catching up to the trucks. Parts had become so hard to find that Callanan sometimes resorted to repairing them with used parts.
The Georgia Dept. of Transportation is trying to keep Interstate 75, one of the busiest highways in the state, in good condition without severely impacting commuters. Last summer, Archer Western won a three-year $81.3 million contract to mill, inlay and pave the 8.9-mi.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has begun the second phase of the three-year, three-phase project to widen and rehabilitate the Interstate 64 bridge over the Acca railroad switching yard. Beginning Jan. 16 at 8 p.m. motorists traveling from I-195 north to I-64 west were restricted from crossing the construction zone and exiting onto Staples Mill Road (exit 185).
