Isuzu Commercial Truck of America Inc., distributor of low-cab-forward trucks, recently collaborated with Supreme Industries, a manufacturer of specialized commercial truck bodies, to deliver customized, quality truck solutions to Ewing Irrigation & Landscape Supply, one of the largest family-owned suppliers of landscape and water management products in the nation.

Isuzu, along with its dealer Golden Gate Truck Center in Oakland, Calif., and Supreme identified Ewing's industry-specific and business-specific needs to develop a customized vehicle for Ewing.

“The FTR offers the perfect combination of payload, performance, economy and durability to meet Ewing's specific needs,” said Shaun Skinner, president of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America Inc. “It's the needs of customers like Ewing that demonstrate exactly why we brought the Class 6 FTR to market.”

“We value our 30-year relationship with Isuzu trucks and the exceptional service we receive from Isuzu's sales, product support and customer relations teams,” said Douglas W. York, Ewing's president and chief executive officer. “Through our ongoing relationship, Ewing is better able to serve our customers across the country. Isuzu's quality trucks, custom-built and designed for our needs, make the difference in our day-to-day business.”

Meanwhile, Supreme's focus on offering customer-centric solutions motivated it to delve into Ewing's business and really understand its challenges in order to create the perfect truck body for Ewing, according to the company.

Supreme customized the Ewing trucks by upfitting them with a heavy-duty platform and 3/16 in. (.5 cm) steel-over-rough-oak floor (to move heavy material like concrete and fertilizers); stake-side flatbeds; payload securement devices; 21-ft. (6.4 m) custom-length bed; D-rings on the bed floor; a cross-member added to the frame for strength; lift gates with foot control; and consistent applications of Ewing's custom blue paint on the body, reinforcing Ewing's brand image and giving the trucks a bold look.

“Supreme really listened to us throughout the process,” said Michael Peters, fleet manager at Ewing. “I was updated on each truck's progress at three different plants across the country. Their team works together to ensure we are not only taken care of while the trucks are being built, but after the sale as well. The craftsmanship and quality of our new trucks make me proud to call them ours. Supreme has definitely made a difference for our company.”

This combination of high-quality chassis and truck bodies and dedicated customer service provided Ewing with the most tailored solution for their business. Isuzu and Supreme look forward to continuing to collaborate to offer unique truck solutions and outstanding customer experiences, the companies said.
