Excavator giant JCB recently completed the purchase of a multi-million pound manufacturing facility as part of plans to produce its own diesel engines.

The Staffordshire-based firm, which announced its plans to build engines in August last year, acquired a 160,000-sq.-ft. facility at Dove Valley Park in Church Broughton, Derbyshire, a JCB spokesman confirmed.

Chief executive John Patterson said a new company, to be known as JCB Power Systems Ltd, was formed to manufacture engines at the 12-acre site, where 100 jobs will be created.
