Both had their sights set on finding deals on forklifts and backhoe loaders. Growing numbers of international buyers are relying on JM Wood for their equipment needs abroad including Duran Kurt of Trans American Machinery Company based in Turkey. He was very interested in all the late model motorgraders at the sale. Comparing and contrasting some of the machines of interest (L-R) are Brad Smith, Smith Equipment Company, Hernando, Miss.; Todd Yerby, Doggett Machinery, Baton Rouge, La.; and Donnie Locke, Deanco, Dothan, Ala. Checking everything on this John Deere 200LC excavator before he bids is Skip Walker of High Hills Equipment, Birmingham, Ala. Being a one-day sale with a high number of machines to auction off, JM Wood’s Vice President Bryant Wood calls the auction at a rapid pace. Discussing their assessment of a John Deere 650J LGP are Brian Vinzant (L) and Levis Peters of Rives Construction, Birmingham, Ala. The 140H’s drew a lot of attention at this sale. JM Wood representatives quickly slap the sold magnets on each of six well maintained late model Caterpillar motorgraders that were on the auction block.

JM Woods held a large one-day auction Dec. 2 in Montgomery, Ala.

Billed as the 38th annual Late Fall Contractors Auction, the sale featured several county-owned 2007 Cat 140H graders that attracted buyers from Australia and Mexico, as well as two county-owned 2007 John Deere 770D graders selling to a buyer in Fort Worth, Texas.

Registered bidders onsite numbered 862, while 110 registered online bidders participated.

“Prices are getting stronger at the auctions across the country,” said Bryant Wood, vice president of JM Wood. “Clean late model equipment is getting harder to find around the globe. International buyers like the idea of all the equipment being in one location, making it easier to help arrange shipping and dismantling to get their equipment to the ports. We provide turnkey services to the buyer, from inspections before they buy the equipment until it gets on the boat or the job site down the road.”
