Komatsu Announces Opening of New Rock Springs Service Branch

The new facility features the latest technology for equipment repair.

Komatsu Equipment Company (KEC) has recently announced the opening of its new service branch in Rock Springs, Wyo. The 18,000 sq. ft. building is located on five acres at 405 Jonah Drive and features the latest technology for equipment repair.

The facility includes five service bays; wash bay; warehouse; 15 ton (13.6 t) by 60 ft. (18.3 m) span overhead crane; 5 ton (4.5 t) jib crane; computerized central lubrication system; parts, service, and rental counter, administrative offices; and equipment display and demonstration areas.

Komatsu has been an industry leader in the development and introduction of Tier III and Tier IV engines, resulting in better efficiency and lower emissions. Komatsu also has the only true hybrid PC200 excavator. The PC200 hybrid model uses from 25 to 41 percent less fuel than conventional equipment. In one hour of operation, this machine emits up to 22 lbs. (10 kg) less CO2 when compared to similar sized conventional equipment. The Hybrid PC200 will be featured at the Komatsu Equipment Rodeo as part of the Grand Opening in Rock Springs.

KEC was formed in 1997 through the merger of Rocky Mountain Machinery, headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah and Pioneer Equipment with headquarters in Reno, Nev.

Utah operations originated in 1952 with 15 employees and have grown to include 293 employees in three states. KEC sells and services equipment to support many industries that rely on heavy equipment machinery, including highway, infrastructure, residential, industrial, utility, energy and mining in Utah, Nev., and Wyo.
