Metrac Inc., of Northern and Central, GA, has had a busy year so far taking on a number of new product lines and adding key personnel to its already highly skilled staff.
The lines that Metrac has taken on result from the recent liquidation and closure of Trax Inc. earlier this spring. They include the full lines of Hitachi, Euclid, NPK, Driltech and Dynapac products.
Because of the addition of the Hitachi and Euclid product lines, the company has started a new Mining Division, with Rich Dundon heading it up as manager.
Dundon is based at Metrac’s headquarters in Atlanta. He has been in the construction machinery business for more than 30 years, 20 of which were with Trax Inc., where he held various sales and management positions. Prior to joining Metrac, Dundon spent one year as the general manager at another Atlanta-based OEM distributor.
Kevin Cruikshank has been promoted to public relations director and is based in Atlanta. He has been with the company for more than 10 years in various sales capacities including starting his career in golf and turf equipment sales. He eventually moved into heavy equipment sales and then moved on, working in a key role in the development of Metrac’s Light Equipment Division in the mid-1990s.
Many of the new employees added to Metrac’s staff are former employees of Trax Inc.
Tim Price has been named operations manager of product support of the Macon location. He started his career in the construction equipment service industry more than 15 years ago and has worked in various positions in the service and parts departments for a number of OEM dealers. His most recent experience includes six years with Trax Inc., where he held the position of parts and service manager.
Joe Burton has joined Metrac’s Mining Division as a sales representative concentrating specifically on aggregate producers. He started his career in the industry in 1974 and brings a wealth of experience to Metrac. He previously worked for Trax Inc. specializing in the sales of heavy construction and mining equipment for the crushed stone industry.
Steven Anthony has been added to Metrac as its customer service advisor, based out of the Braselton location. Anthony previously worked for Trax where he spent seven years in sales and product support of heavy equipment. In his new capacity, he will cover product support for parts and service in the quarry and mining operations of North Georgia.
Metrac also announced Felix Colón as shop foreman at the Atlanta branch. Colón spent more than 21 years in the military where he started out as a mechanic and eventually held various leadership and administrative positions in the mechanized infantry. At one time, he was responsible for overseeing 17 motor pools where he initiated and conducted training program for service and parts procurement for personnel working on military machines.
In his civilian life, Colón joined Trax Inc., as a mechanic, where his skills and expertise were quickly recognized as he worked his way up to shop foreman in a mere three years. At Metrac, Colón will be responsible for all shop activities at the Atlanta facility.
Billy Butler has joined Metrac as its customer service advisor at the Macon location. He comes to the company from Trax, where he spent 23 years working his way up the ladder from mechanic to service technical advisor. His responsibilities at Trax included new machine setup, and demonstrating and training new owners and operators on equipment. His primary duties at Metrac include working in the Mining Division calling on customers for product support and parts sales.
Other new Metrac employees include Perry Rintye, export parts specialist; Bud Nunley, warranty administrator; Mike Lozano, component and engine specialist; and Ronnie Coleman, component and engine specialist, all of the Atlanta branch. The Braselton facility welcomes Doug Welch, field service. At the Macon location the company added David Martin, service clerk; and Michael Woodard, Rodney Jacobs and Jim Corbin, all field service.
Duane Faircloth, field service, joined the Augusta branch.
Metrac’s new personnel and product line additions complement the already established equipment products the company offers. Metrac is the authorized John Deere Construction Equipment and Timberjack Forestry Equipment dealer in Northern and Central Georgia.
The company has six locations serving the entire Northern and Central Georgia area in Atlanta, Braselton, Columbus, Augusta, Macon and Adairsville.
It is a full-service dealer offering sales, rentals, parts and service.
The parts department carries an inventory of more than $3 million to support the products the company sells. This inventory includes a very large stock of John Deere “MASTERTRAX” undercarriages to fit most all makes and models of crawler dozers, loaders and excavators.
Metrac’s service departments provide up-to-date certified, trained technicians with a fleet of field service trucks available. The company offers preventative maintenance trucks to take care of all its customers’ equipment services in the field.
