Construction Equipment Guide

Rudd Equipment Company’s recent move into Ohio has expanded its territory to include all or part of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia and now, Ohio. Founded in 1952 by Mason Rudd of Louisville, Ky., the company is experienced in serving the construction, forestry, industrial and mining marketplace. In addition to Volvo, Rudd Equipment represents Driltech, Esco, Euclid, Hitachi, Kent, Link-Belt and Tamrock.

According to Sales Manager Martin McCutcheon, Rudd’s existing facilities and freight network provide such quick and easy access to Ohio that covering the new territory is a natural fit. With resources in the states surrounding Ohio, service technicians are quickly dispatched from Pennsylvania and West Virginia for eastern Ohio, Indiana for western Ohio and Kentucky for the Cincinnati market. Rudd Equipment has resident technicians stationed throughout Ohio and the company’s dispatchers have the ability to draw technicians from other branches as the need dictates.

Rudd Equipment plans to open Ohio facilities in Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland, according to McCutcheon. The first Ohio store will open soon in suburban Cincinnati and Rudd is actively scouting for locations in the other two markets.

Currently, Rudd Equipment has strategically positioned machine sales and rental representatives throughout the state to serve the needs of its customers in Ohio. To complement Rudd’s existing veteran sales representatives already covering Ohio, the following new additions are now on board:

• Sarah Chapman joined Rudd Equipment within the past year and covers the Cincinnati and Dayton markets. Chapman has several years of similar sales experience with the former Ohio Volvo dealer.

• Jason Miller has a total of seven years experience in the construction equipment marketplace, of which the latest three were with the previous Volvo dealer. Miller serves the territory east and north of Columbus, Ohio.

· • Phil Pack, with ten years experience in the construction equipment marketplace, covers eight counties in central and northern Ohio.

In addition, Rudd Equipment has six product support representatives supporting Ohio customers: Mike Frederick, Mike Meehan, Perry Post, Phil Rindlaub, Tom Schorr and Shawn Taylor are strategically positioned to address the support needs of the Ohio customer base.

Rudd’s move into Ohio has been a positive change based on one customer’s reaction. Eric Johnson, area product manager for National Lime and Stone Company, said they are pleased with their support from Rudd Equipment. National Lime and Stone recently purchased seven Volvo machines from Rudd Equipment to add to their existing fleet of twenty Volvo machines. “From everything we’ve seen, they’re a top quality organization,” said Johnson, “They [Rudd] provide first-rate communication and services, their sales staff and mechanics are extremely knowledgeable and well trained. Their response time is quick, regardless of the office location.”
