Shanahan Equipment’s seven locations in California and Nevada now offer Komatsu America’s new PC300HD-8 hydraulic excavator.

Komatsu has developed an upgraded version of this model designed for operator comfort and control as well as the same stability, performance and reliability features that differentiated this model’s predecessor in the marketplace.

The PC300HD-8 combines the PC300LC-8 upper structure with the PC400LC-8 fixed gauge undercarriage, providing for stability and lift capacity in its competitive size class. This machine has a flywheel horsepower of 246 (183 kW) and an operating weight of 85,085 to 88,551 lbs. (38,594 to 40,166 kg).

The PC300HD-8 is equipped with the latest KOMTRAX technology (Level 3), which sends machine operating information to a secure Web site utilizing wireless technology.

The KOMTRAX fleet monitoring system increases machine availability, reduces the risk of machine theft, allows for remote diagnosis by the distributor, and provides other information to drive business efficiency and productivity.

Special features of the new PC300HD-8 include a 7-in. LCD monitor that displays data in 10 languages for global support and a radiator and hydraulic oil cooler mounted side-by-side.

The design makes it simpler to maintain and service these two components when required.

Additionally, the machine is equipped with the Komatsu Equipment Management Monitoring System (EMMS), which performs three main functions that are displayed on the large LCD color monitor. EMMS continually monitors all critical excavator systems, alerting and guiding the operator should an abnormality occur. EMMS often prevents a small problem from becoming a major service issue, contributing to reductions in the cost of operation.

The system also tracks the preventive maintenance schedule, provides on-board tracking and advises current required maintenance and provides error codes and troubleshooting assistance to mechanics in order to minimize diagnosis and repair time.

The PC300HD-8 comes equipped with two boom mode settings, five working modes, and Power Max control. These modes are designed to match engine speed, pump flow, and system pressure to specific application requirements, providing the operator with the flexibility to correspond equipment performance to the job at hand.

Because many excavators operate a wide variety of working attachments, the PC300HD-8 is equipped with Breaker Mode (single action circuit) and Attachment Mode (double action circuit), which allow the operator to adjust hydraulic flow directly from the cab through the large monitor panel. The attachment flow control has been improved and is more flexible for effortless attachment adjustments. In hard digging applications, a one-touch Power Max Function increases digging force by 8 percent for 8 seconds, creating a noticeable difference in digging performance.

Shanahan Equipment Company is a part of Cummins West Inc., which has been selling and servicing Cummins powered products since 1934. An exclusive dealer for Komatsu, the company has six locations in northern and central California and one in Reno, Nev.
