Following closely on the award of the Sunflower Wind Project announced in August, Solas Energy Consulting U.S. Inc. and its Canadian partner company, Solas Energy Consulting Inc. (collectively “Solas Energy”), announced two additional significant project awards.
Solas will provide comprehensive construction management services for the 51 MW Hancock Wind Project under construction near Ellsworth, Maine, and the 185 MW Bingham Wind Project under construction near Bingham, Maine.
Solas Energy will oversee the turbine supplier and balance-of-plant contractor's site work on behalf of the project owners, Hancock Wind LLC and Blue Sky West LLC. Construction was started on both projects in 2015. Solas Energy was brought in midway through project construction to replace the existing construction management contractor.
“The real challenge with these projects was to ensure the seamless transition of responsibility over a short time frame. Solas was able to retain the existing construction and project management team through the transition, which helps keep the projects on schedule and within budget. We are looking forward to the successful completion of both of these projects” said Evelyn Carpenter, Solas Energy Consulting co-founder and president.
