Stafford Establishes Onsite Oil Analysis

Construction Equipment Guide

Stafford has established an oil analysis lab at its Tifton, Ga., headquarters that will serve its branches across the Southeast.

The unit is called the OSA-II onsite oil analysis lab, which is widely accepted as the industry standard. It’s the same piece of equipment used by all major automobile manufacturers because it’s accurate and very detailed compared to many contract labs. The OSA-II provides a full report, not just of wear materials, but of all the alloyed and additive elements like calcium, phosphorous and zinc as well as physical properties like water, soot, oxidation and viscosity.

The lab provides diagnostic fluids analysis for engines, transmissions, power steering systems and gearboxes. Stafford’s Oil Analysis covers a wide range of applications including agricultural equipment, mining, marine, heavy equipment, automobiles, trucks, off-road equipment, generators and other industrial applications. The lab allows owners to manage preventative maintenance practices and maximize fleet productivity and output.

“The advantage of an oil analysis extends beyond the obvious predictive benefits that allow you to replace parts and components before failure. Regular oil analysis significantly improves the resale value of a piece of equipment. It also allows for operator monitoring and can save costs by giving the data needed to ensure fluids are changed at the optimum time,” said Stafford’s Vice President/Product Support Ken Vance.
