Summit Truck Equipment, part of Transwest Family, recently opened a new branch in Kansas City, Mo.

The company moved into an existing facility, which is located at 3801 N. Skiles in Kansas City, in July. The new store features three service bay facilities.

Additionally, there are five employees and two technicians on hand.

“This is a new location and new market for Summit Truck Equipment,” Dave Bowe, branch manager, said. “Basically, we were offered the Jerr-Dan distributorship and decided to expand,” Bowe said. “Summit Bodies has a plant in Wathena, Kan., and that’s where we manufacture our own brand of service trucks and lube chassis.”

In addition to the new retail store, Summit Truck Equipment offers parts and service for both lube body and commercial body trucks.

Bowe emphasized that the move allowed Summit to have its own retail store near the manufacturing plant.

“We secured the Trail King commercial line and the MAC trailer line for Kansas City, Mo.,” Bowe said. “We’re excited to enter Kansas City market with Summit service bodies and lube chassis and the other brands we represent.”

Summit Truck Equipment has another retail facility near Denver.
