Superior Construction, an American family-owned infrastructure contractor, announced it was awarded Liberty Mutual's Gold Safety Award for outstanding workplace safety in 2022. It's the second consecutive year Liberty Mutual Insurance has recognized Superior for its industry-leading safety record.

The Gold Safety Award is the highest recognition policyholders can achieve and is presented to companies that meet rigorous criteria, including maintaining a U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics DART (Days away from work, days of restricted work activity or job transfer) rate that is at least 80 percent better than the industry average.

In addition, the company must have a minimum of 200,000 work hours to qualify. In 2022, Superior's crews completed more than 3.1 million work hours throughout its Southeast and Midwest divisions, with an annual DART rate of 0.13.

Superior Construction's commitment to safety is reflected in its comprehensive safety program, which includes ongoing training, regular safety audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. The company also utilizes advanced safety technology and equipment to help protect its workers and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

"There are clear financial benefits to minimizing safety risks, but beyond reducing project disruptions, it's our moral obligation and top priority to provide a safe work environment for our employees," said Superior CEO Nick Largura. "The Liberty Mutual Gold Safety Award demonstrates our commitment to fostering a safety-focused work culture, and it's just the start as we continue our mission to become a zero-incident company."
