Trimble announced two new product updates during bauma 2025. Earthworks for medium wheel loaders and VCL file visualization in Trimble connect.

Trimble Earthworks for Medium Wheel Loaders

The Trimble Earthworks grade control platform is now available for medium-sized wheel loaders. With this announcement, operators of all skill levels using 10 ton and larger wheel loaders can take full advantage of Trimble Earthworks 3D grade control technology to work faster, more productively and with greater accuracy, said Trimble.

Trimble Earthworks runs on the Android operating system. The dual-GNSS system provides real-time position and heading of the bucket in 3D and front and rear wheel mapping helps operators achieve accurate and up-to-date ground surface mapping.

"The addition of Trimble Earthworks for medium-sized wheel loaders is in direct response to customer feedback," said Seth Meisel, product manager, civil construction at Trimble. "Operators who are familiar with Trimble Earthworks from their work on other machine types are eager to have the same functionality on these popular and versatile wheel loaders, which will help them increase productivity on tasks including site prep and cleanup, digging, grading, leveling and more."

Trimble Connect Now Includes 3D VCL File Visualization

Trimble also announced today that Trimble Connect now includes the ability to visualize VCL files in 3D, taking another step toward offering a fully connected civil construction solution. VCL is a Trimble file format that allows users to share complex design data between different Trimble software and devices, facilitating seamless data integration and workflow efficiency in surveying and construction projects.

Trimble Connect is a cloud-based collaboration platform designed to enable project teams to share, view, track and collaborate on 3D models, documents and other project-related data in real-time. Now, civil contractors can use Trimble Connect as their file management, data viewing and storage tool, enabling easier and more efficient collaboration between civil construction stakeholders.

Trimble Connect gives civil construction teams quick, convenient access to information that works with existing workflows on the Trimble devices and tools used for takeoff and model preparation, office-to-field connectivity, machine control and construction surveying and design visualization.

With the support for VCL, PDF, DXF, DWG, IFC and more than 40 other file types, Trimble Connect allows team members to source and view data in the viewing format that works for them. Instant access to models, drawings and project data is available through a collaborative environment that features 2D and 3D viewers and accepts point clouds as well as other data formats.
