Walker Miller Equipment Company Inc., Orlando, Fla., recently celebrated 50 years in the industry. Started in 1961 with a partnership between Walker Miller and Ken Herold, Miller eventually bought Herold out and the company has continued within the family. Walker’s daughter Connie currently serves as company president, as she has since 1992. A full-line Wacker Neuson dealer, Walker Miller also is certified with the state of Florida, the city of Orlando, Orange County and WBENC as a woman owned business.
As part of the celebration of the golden anniversary of Walker Miller’s founding, the company held a joint party with Wacker Neuson, which brought its “On the Road” campaign to join the festivities. The 53-ft. trailer arrived complete with all the latest Wacker Neuson products and expert representatives ready to show guests the how-to’s, what’s and why’s.
“On the Road,” was first tried out in 1957 by Hermann Wacker driving the industry’s first rammer in his family station wagon, and will be hitting the road throughout 2012, all across North America.
“They are taking this ’Road Show’ to approximately 15 dealers in the U.S. before they go to the World of Concrete in Las Vegas next year. We had great barbecue for lunch and approximately 150 people attended the party. We had a lot of fun. It was a nice party. We sincerely appreciate all the hard work from the Wacker Neuson team. They did a great job,” Connie Miller said.
Walker Miller has won a number of awards, including a 2009 Orlando Business Journal’s Golden 100 Privately Held Companies award and numerous others as Outstanding Dealers from Wacker Neuson and Multiquip.
’When Dad started the company in 1961 he established the motto of ’Service is Our Best Salesman.’ That has been our goal, to provide excellent service to the contractors and municipalities throughout the state of Florida.” Connie stated.
Walker Miller has 14 full- time and two part-time employees, most of whom have been with the company more than ten years and some more than 20 years.
“Each of our employees has experience and expertise in their specific jobs to assist our customers in their product needs,” said Connie. “Our goal is to provide the best products and the best service for our customers.” CEG
