2018 GOMACO University Course Schedule Now Available Online

GOMACO University has released its 2018 schedule and is now accepting registrations for the new season of specialized courses covering GOMACO's full line of concrete paving equipment.

Each week, from January through April, courses are taught by GOMACO instructors with a combined experience of more than 100 years with GOMACO equipment. The instructors also are helped out in the hands-on shop sessions by GOMACO service representatives who travel the world during the paving season and are ready to share their knowledge with the students.

Below is the 2018 GOMACO University schedule. Please note, additional courses may be added as needed, so please keep watching www.gomaco.com/university to see the complete listing or to register for courses. Each course includes classroom learning, as well as shop time, and covers the controls, setup, operation, maintenance and diagnostics of the specific GOMACO machine.

GT-3600 with the G21 or G22 control system: Jan. 23-26

GT-3600 with the G+ control system: Jan. 16-19, Feb. 27 - March 2, and March 27-30

Xtreme Three-Track 3300, GT-3600, and Commander III: February 13-16 and April 10-13

Three-Track Commander III with the G21 or G22 control system: March 13-16

Three-Track Commander III with the G+ control system: Jan. 30 – Feb. 2, March 6-9, and March 20-23

Four-Track Commander III with the G21 or G22 control system: Feb. 20-23

Four-Track Commander III the G+ control system: Feb. 6-9

Trimmers: Jan.y 23-26 and April 3-6

Two-Track and Four-Track Paver with G21 or G22 control system: Jan. 9-12 and March 6-9

Two-Track and Four-Track Paver with the G+ control system: Feb. 13-16, Feb. 27- March 2, and March 27-30

IDBI Dowel Bar Inserter: Jan. 9-12

 C-450 Bridge Deck Finisher: Feb. 6-9

GOMACO University is once again offering courses dealing specifically with concrete mix design and how it affects slipform paving projects. This year's courses will be taught by guest instructor Michael Ayers, who is well-known in the concrete paving industry for his knowledge on concrete mixes.

Concrete Mix Design 1: Jan. 29-30 and March 12-13. This two-day class will focus on the basics of concrete mix design as well as more advanced topics including cement types and application, aggregates, admixtures and optimizing the mix for paving applications. Troubleshooting will look at material incompatibility issues, edge slump, bugholes and other mix related issues and how the mix affects rideability.

Concrete Mix Design 2: Jan. 31 – Feb. 2 and March 14-16. This two-day class will begin with a brief review of concrete mix design and paving issues related to the concrete mix. The course will then focus on achieving specified values for strength and durability and an overview of basic concrete field and lab test procedures. More advanced test procedures will likely be included as part of upcoming changes in specifications including maturity, chloride resistivity, calorimetry and numerous others will be covered concrete mixes.

GOMACO University also is committed to 3D guidance paving education and offers courses customized to each of the three major 3D system suppliers. These are taught by GOMACO's own 3D experts, as well as representatives from either Leica Geosystems, Topcon or Trimble. Courses covering 3D paving are listed below.

GOMACO Leica Geosystems' PaveSmart Training: The courses for pavers and trimmers will be held Jan. 16-19 and March 20-23. The curb and gutter course will be held Feb. 20-23. It will cover the use of Leica Geosystems' PaveSmart 3D software for concrete slipform paving. It includes software setup, maintenance, and operation along with use on placer/spreaders and curb and gutter. It also will cover the Leica Geosystems' handheld rover with VIVA software. Basic grade checking, stakeout, volumes and areas, data import and export will be covered. Diagnostics will conclude the course.

GOMACO Trimble Training: The curb and gutter course will be held March 13-16 and the course for pavers will be April 3-6. It will cover the use of Trimble's PCS900 software for concrete slipform paving, and includes machine setup and operation as well as the use of Trimble's data collection software. Diagnostics will conclude the course.

GOMACO Topcon Training: April 10-13 and April 17-20. It will cover the use of Topcon's mmGPS solution for concrete curb and gutter paving, and includes machine operation as well as data collection/grade verification. Diagnostics will conclude the course.
