Dennis Slater, president of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), has been named one of the 100 most influential people in the trade show business in recognition of his work positioning AEM as a leading trade show organizer and for leadership in the International Association for Exhibition Management (IAEM), including service as its 2004 chairman.

Slater received the honor from Tradeshow Week, the weekly magazine covering the convention and exhibition industry.

“AEM’s operating philosophy is that our shows are run by the industry, for the benefit of the industry. We provide a cost-effective way for buyers and sellers to connect, and our revenues support industry initiatives,” Slater explained.

In addition to trade shows, AEM core services include market statistical programs, technical and safety activities, public policy initiatives, industry education and workforce development.

“This honor recognizes AEM’s role as an industry leader, helping members gain a competitive advantage in the global marketplace,” Slater added.

Slater was named to the “Power Pack 100” list in a recent issue of the Tradeshow Week publication. The “top 100” list included executives from show management companies, convention centers and other facilities, exhibition services firms and trade associations.

AEM is the North American-based international trade group for the off-road equipment manufacturing industry, and also is owner or co-owner and producer of several trade shows, including ConExpo-Con/AGG, for construction and construction materials, and ICUEE-The Demo Expo, for construction and utility. The two shows were, respectively, the number one and number three largest shows of any industry held in the United States and Canada in 2005.
