Chicago Pneumatic Construction Equipment has launched the SR 140 soil compactor, joining the SR 130 in its lineup. Designed for compaction operations in pipe trenches, roads, streets and parking lots, it also is ideal for building foundations and construction sites. In addition, its small size is well suited for repair and refilling work, especially in confined spaces.

With an operating weight of just over 14,000 lbs. (6,350 kg), the SR 140 features dual speed and dual amplitude with a drum width of 66 in. (167.6 cm) and a drum diameter of 48 in. (122 cm). While the Chicago Pneumatic soil compactor is exceptional in tight spaces, it also is highly maneuverable, even on steep slopes. Paired with a Tier IV Final Kubota engine that has been cross-mounted for easy service access, the machine produces a reliable performance with each job, according to the manufacturer.

The new compactor is suitable for all types of supporting and reinforcement courses, including gravel, sand, silt, clay, and sub-base and base materials. Additionally, The SR 140 has several features including low noise and emissions, easy service access and an operator-friendly design.

With several operator-friendly features, the SR 140 has a spacious operator platform, which features ergonomically positioned steps, an adjustable seat, a battery disconnector within easy reach and a lockable storage compartment. Moreover, vibration insulation minimizes body and hand vibration to reduce operator fatigue.

Operating in standard ECO-mode not only keeps the SR 140 engine rpm and noise levels exceptionally low, but also helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 15 percent. Designed to be convenient for the operator, the soil compactor's service components can be reached from a standing position from the ground, while a high inlet reduces maintenance by keeping the combustion air clean.

"The SR 140 is a great machine with several features to suit the operator, including complete operator comfort and good visibility over the work area and surroundings," said Tim Hoffman, product manager, rollers. "The versatility and maneuverability of this soil compactor is something that contractors will not only have success on the job with but also come to rely on. Additionally, this machine's dual speed and dual amplitudes make it great for both thick and thin layers of material."

While many features come standard on the SR 140, it also offers several different options. For more information, visit www.cp.com.
