Meeker Sand & Gravel, a family-owned and operated company based in Darwin, Minn., recently took delivery of a Terex Cedarapids CSC280 6203 portable cone and screen plant from Ruffridge-Johnson Equipment Company, Minneapolis, Minn.

Jason and Justin Sing, co-owners of Meeker Sand & Gravel, said they needed the machine due to increased demand from their customers. The company provides gravel, sand and rock products. The company's Class 5 road gravel, Class 1 gravel can be used for driveways, under cement and parking areas; its screened pit run gravel (screened sand) can be used for fill, under concrete and base; and its sandy clay fill can be used for building pads, fill and base. Meeker Sand & Gravel rock products also have a variety of uses including landscaping, sewer, drainage, driveway and playground pea rock, as well as rip rap.

The Terex Cedarapids CSC280 6203 will increase the efficiency of producing these products for Meeker Sand & Gravel with its combination of the MVP280 cone and a triple deck screen. The crusher settings can be changed fast and easily without shutting off feed to the plant. This closed circuit plant, teamed up with a jaw plant, makes a portable and productive two-stage crushing system. These plants, with the high crushing power of the Rollercone crusher, also are frequently used as tertiary crushing circuits for making high quality sized products.

Jason and Justin said they've received excellent service from Ruffridge-Johnson Equipment Company. According to Justin, this transaction is the latest example of its long-standing relationship with the dealership.

“We are a third-generation company family business. Jon, the owner of Ruffridge, also sold our grandpa, Myrel Sing, an ElJay/Cedarapids RC45 rollercone plant back in the day,” said Justin.
