Georgia Utility Contractors Association’s (GUCA) Community Service Committee completed the final grade work for the Apalachee Girls Softball Field in December.
GUCA Community Service members H’s Masonry Inc. and Southeastern Clearing Systems LLC provided much-needed finish grade work at Apalachee High School’s Girls Softball Field in Winder, GA.
Harry Galloway of H’s Masonry and Lee Jarvis of Southeastern Clearing Systems moved more than 600 cu. yds. of dirt using a Cat 953 dozer and a Cat D5 dozer. All equipment and fuel was provided by Strack Inc.
Two and half years ago, the field was created but it never was completely finished. Certain amenities such as adequate parking, proper drainage for the field and a suitable location for a concession stand were never completed.
Through the efforts of Galloway and Jarvis, these problematic field conditions were corrected and the girls’ softball team can enjoy a first class field.
“We are truly grateful to the efforts of Harry and Lee for completing the construction of the field. I would also like to thank Strack Inc. for the donation of the equipment to complete the task.” said Coach Brian Moore. “Without proper drainage our field was a mess anytime it rained and the school lost thousands of dollars of revenue because we lacked a concession stand. We look forward to the construction of the concession stand to assist our program remain a vibrant part of the Apalachee High School Athletic Program.”
