The design-build reconstruction of the Bay of St. Louis Bridge is officially completed.

The bridge was completed under a $283.5 million design-build contract with Granite Archer Western.

“The completion of this bridge is another milestone in the rebuilding of our beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast,” said MDOT Southern Transportation Commissioner Wayne Brown. “Our partners who made this happen in record-breaking time should be commended for their work. MDOT wishes to express appreciation to the citizens of our country who ultimately provided for 100 percent of federal money that was used to construct this important project.”

In addition, motorists can now access State Highway 90 at a new signalized intersection at Beach Boulevard in Bay St. Louis. Work to complete that intersection also concluded in February.

The new bridge has four 12-ft.-wide (3.7 m) lanes (two in each direction) separated by a concrete median barrier, with an 8-ft.-wide (2.4 m) inside shoulder and a 10-ft.-wide (3 m) outside shoulder. It features a 12-ft.-wide shared-use path for pedestrians and cyclists alongside the eastbound vehicle lanes. The new structure provides 85 ft. (26 m) of vertical clearance to accommodate marine traffic.
