The California Transportation Commission (CTC) has approved $625 million in new transportation funding for 114 projects throughout the state, including $123 million from Proposition 1B, the voter-approved transportation bond.

The remaining funding allocated comes from the State Transportation Improvement Program, the State Highway Operation and Protection Program, and the Traffic Congestion Relief Program.

Highlights of the CTC’s funding allocations include:

• San Diego — $90 million was allocated from Proposition 1B’s Corridor Mobility Improvement Account to build a “managed lanes” facility on Interstate 15 from Mira Mesa Boulevard to the Interstate 15/SR 56 Interchange.

• Sacramento — $55 million was allocated to repair Interstate 5 between Highway 50 and J Street near the popular tourist attraction, Old Sacramento.

• Central Coast — $20 million was allocated to repair Highway 101 between Highway 1 and Highway 46 near Buellton in Santa Barbara County. The project will improve safety and ride quality for motorists and goods movement vehicles.

• Central Valley — $17 million was allocated to widen the Westside Parkway in Bakersfield to relieve traffic congestion between the Stockdale Highway and Truxtun Avenue at Highway 99.

• San Diego — $77 million was allocated to construct a six-lane freeway from Britannia Boulevard to Siempre Viva Interchange on Interstate 905 in San Diego County. I-905 is a major interregional goods movement and commuter corridor.
