Ground Zero Crews Raise 30-Ft. Tree

- Northeast Edition

Jimmy Nolan, a member of the Carpenters Union Local 608, came up with the idea of having a Christmas tree at Ground Zero with the hope of boosting morale among the hundreds of construction workers who have helped with the clean up since Sept. 11. The 30-ft. tree stands at the corner of Vescey and West streets, topped with an American flag and adorned with paper angels made by school children in memory of the thousands of people who were killed when terrorists attacked the World Trade Center.
