Robert S. Cleveland has been promoted to the position of president H.O. Penn Machinery Company Inc., the Caterpillar dealer for Connecticut and southern New York State.

In announcing the promotion, C. E. Thomas Cleveland, chairman and CEO said, “It gives me great pleasure to have my son, Rob, become president of our company. I know that Rob’s grandfather, Robert W. Cleveland, would be very proud that Rob has taken on the responsibilities of this position. He represents the third generation of our family’s leadership of H.O. Penn.”

After having worked for the company during the summers starting in 1991, Rob joined H.O. Penn full time in 1995 when he became credit representative in H.O. Penn’s Bronx, NY, branch. He later became product support development manager where he ran the warranty department, managed flat rate development and began a machine population project.

Rob then managed the engine product support representatives where he increased the size of the sales force and led the growth of the company’s Power Systems service business. Most recently, he has been the branch manager of H.O. Penn’s newest facility in Bloomingburg, NY, a position that also included responsibility for the Poughkeepsie branch’s machine sales.

Continuing with the company’s Managing By Values Process, Rob will be H.O. Penn’s principal spokesperson in all key activities to ensure the company’s current and future success.

“I look forward to working with Jeff Mitchell, who is continuing as our executive vice president and general manager, and our entire H.O. Penn team to pursue our vision to become a high performing company for all our key stakeholder groups — customers, employees, owners and Caterpillar.

“We will continue our strategy to grow our business and help our customers grow their businesses. I also will be working closely with Caterpillar to ensure that H.O. Penn does its part to help Caterpillar realize their goals for their Vision 2010 and 2020,” Rob said.

H.O. Penn is a family-owned and managed business that has been dedicated to providing outstanding service to its customers since 1923. It operates out of five locations: Holtsville, Bronx, Bloomingburg and Poughkeepsie, NY, and Newington, CT.
