ATLANTA (AP) The cost of the new Atlanta Falcons stadium has climbed to $1.4 billion. The initial cost of the retractable-roof facility, which will replace the Georgia Dome in 2017, was estimated at $1 billion. That was later raised to $1.2 billion. Now, it’s gone up again by $200 million.

ATLANTA (AP) The city of Atlanta’s economic development arm has voted to approve issuing more than $200 million in bonds to help finance a new stadium for the Atlanta Falcons. WSB-TV reported that Invest Atlanta voted to approve the bonds. One board member, Julian Bene, opposed the bonds, saying the stadium would create "surprisingly few" jobs.

Five of the nation’s largest construction trade associations have teamed up to form the Construction Coalition for a Drug- and Alcohol-Free Workplace (CCDAFW). The coalition’s mission is to create a drug- and alcohol-free construction industry by providing companies and organizations with the resources necessary to implement drug- and alcohol-free policies into their business practices.

CHARLESTON (AP) This year’s failure to lower West Virginia’s blood-alcohol standard will cost the state $2.6 million in federal highway dollars. Gov. Bob Wise asked lawmakers to lower the level from .10 to .08 this year but the proposal died in the final 10 minutes of the regular session when Senate Minority Leader Vic Sprouse, R-Kanawha, filibustered to protest a workers’ compensation proposal.
