There's the old work cliché when somebody asks their boss, "when do you need this by?" and the answer is "I need it yesterday." Time constraints and deadline are facts of work life and the construction industry is no different. Sweatt Construction of Artesia, N.M., recently completed work on a 96-acre site near Loving, N.M., that will eventually be home to an XTO Energy (a division of Exxon Mobil) refinery, energy compressor station and cryogenic plant.

Sean McMillan recently joined Cowin Equipment Company as an outside sales representative based in the company’s Mableton (Atlanta), Ga., office. Sean was born and raised in Mableton, Ga. After graduating from The Citadel in 1996, Sean started out in the plumbing distribution business.

The Terex/CMI SF2204B HVW from Terex Roadbuilding can adjust from its 8-ft. 4-in. (2.4 m) transport width to its 20-ft. (6.1 m) paving configuration in moments, rather than hours. The Combined Credit Manager’s Index (CMI) fell 2.6 percent for the month of May on a seasonally adjusted basis. While seven of the 10 components remain above the 50 percent mark, indicating economic expansion, the decline was relatively large and quite widespread.

The Credit Manager’s Index (CMI) rose to 57.4 in November, above October’s 56.6. The Index is now 1.2 percent higher than last November and represents solid economic growth. An improvement in bankruptcy filings of 9.6 percent in manufacturing and 8.2 percent in services contributed most to the gain — a result of the rush to file for bankruptcy before the October deadline introducing more creditor-friendly bankruptcy laws.

Bill Stramer, vice president, marketing, sales and customer support, has announced the signing of Construction Machinery Industrial LLC (CMI) as the Link-Belt crane distributor for the entire state of Alaska. “Link-Belt is very pleased to be represented by CMI in Alaska,” said Brax Snyder, manager, worldwide sales.
