Granite Construction Incorporated announced the appointment of Kyle T. Larkin as president and principal executive officer, as well as the upcoming retirement of President and Chief Executive Officer James H. Roberts. These changes were effective Sept.

Granite recently opened its Big Rock Aggregate and Asphalt Plant in Llano. Big Rock will provide aggregate and asphalt to private and public customers in northern and western Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern and San Bernardino counties. Built with safety and sustainability in mind, this plant uses technology to be able to produce 11 high-quality aggregate materials simultaneously with the flexibility to modify finished products as the market demands.

Granite Construction Inc. is continuing to make progress on the California Department of Transportation's (Caltrans) $44 million, multi-year project to reconstruct the interchange at Imperial Avenue and Interstate 8 (I-8) in the city of El Centro.

Granite has been awarded a $245 million subcontract by Fluor Marine Propulsion LLC (FMP) for the concrete placement construction of the Naval Spent Fuel Handling Facility near Idaho Falls, Idaho. The project was included in Granite's 2019 Committed and Awarded Projects (CAP).

Watsonville-based Granite Construction and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) are constructing two new bridge structures to replace the Cosumnes River bridge and the Cosumnes River Overflow bridge on State Highway 99. The current structures are in need of replacement due to wear and age.

Crews in Salt Lake County, Utah are working long hours to complete the Blackrock Reconstructed Project. The $41 million effort involves reconstructing three bridges along I-80 to provide safe and efficient travel for growing communities in Tooele County.

Granite announced recently it has been awarded a $79 million contract by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to construct the Highway 101: Carpinteria project in Santa Barbara County, Calif. The $79 million contract award will be booked in Granite's second quarter 2020 backlog.
