SKV Crane & Rigging has added a Liebherr LR 1800-1.0 to its fleet of crawler cranes. The crane will soon be in the field on upcoming wind projects in Wyoming. "I feel the LR1800 was the best choice for the upcoming projects in our area," said Stephen Vinot, operations manager of SKV Crane and Rigging.

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) Power Company of Wyoming has moved a step closer to clearing a final environmental requirement for its massive Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project in Carbon County. The Casper Star-Tribune reports that the Bureau of Land Management recently released the third environmental assessment of the wind farm for public comment.

The Casper Star-Tribune reported Carbon County commissioners on July 2 OK'd the new schedule for the Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project as it works through federal, state and county permits, as well as environmental requirements.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) The Wyoming Business Council board has recommended the state approve a $9.35 million loan for the construction of a biomedical manufacturing facility in Cheyenne. The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reported that the proposed loan is still subject to State Loan and Investment Board review and governor approval.

Black Hills Energy began construction of a new, 4.5-mi. natural gas pipeline June 3. The project provides customers with the additional reliability needed to meet growth in the Laramie area. "The city of Laramie and the University of Wyoming are experiencing a great deal of growth and this project provides reliability for our expanding community," said Rachael Sisneros, supervisor of gas operations in Laramie.

The Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded Oftedal Construction Inc., of Casper, a $67 million contract for the Snake River South Project on U.S. 26/89/189/191. The commission awarded that and eight other contracts during its recent meeting. The Snake River South Project includes new pavement, additional lanes, turnouts, pathways, accommodations for wildlife and landscaping, as well as various other improvements from mileposts 141-145.

SARATOGA, Wyo. (AP) Wyoming regulators have approved construction of transmission lines to connect energy generated from wind farms in southern Wyoming to southwestern states. The state Industrial Siting Council voted unanimously April 19 during its meeting in Saratoga to approve the permit application by TransWest Express to construct and operate a 730-mile high-voltage transmission system.

The State of Wyoming's Industrial Siting Council voted unanimously on April 19 to approve TransWest Express LLC's application for a permit to construct and operate the TransWest Express Transmission Project. The 730-mi. high-voltage transmission system extends from Wyoming to Nevada and will provide western electricity markets with efficient access to energy generated in Wyoming, including high-capacity wind energy resources.
