Latham, N.Y.’s Bette & Cring Add Two New Excavators to Its Fleet

It’s twins for Bette & Cring — excavators that is!

This diversified construction management, design-build and general contracting firm headquartered in Latham, N.Y., recently purchased two Doosan DX350LC excavators from Robert H. Finke & Sons Inc. in Selkirk, N.Y. Representatives from Finke and Doosan were on hand as Bette & Cring’s crew took ownership of their new equipment.

“We’ve been doing business with Finke for over 30 years. We have a good relationship and get good service,” said Jeff “Duffy” Buchanan, general superintendent, Bridge Division, of Bette & Cring. “We used to buy used for most of our heavy machinery but the time and the price were right to buy new. It was a big step for us. We chose Doosan because it offered the best value for what we needed even though they’re somewhat of a new player in the game.

“These excavators are perfect for the work we do. We have to go in tight areas under bridges. One machine will be sent to Johnsonville, N.Y., to work on a $4.2 million bridge project over the Hoosick River and the other is going to Exit 31 [Elizabethtown] to work on a $10.4 million bridge replacement project that will be replacing two bridges on the Northway.”

Don Fiacco, Finke Equipment general manager, explained that, “Today’s presentation was to educate Bette & Cring in operating and maintaining the equipment. We wanted to show them what’s new and different with Doosan. The more we can educate people the better off everyone will be. We strive to make our customers’ lives easier.

“We’ve been making a big push with Doosan, ” he continued. “We took them on around the same time as our new facility opened. They offer a lot of standard features that others might be adding on or charging more for so our customers get a lot for their money.”

Also on hand for the presentation was Joel Suffish, district sales manager of Doosan.

“This model excavator is big in the United States. The DX350LC is a Tier IV machine designed to provide the ultimate in power, performance and fuel economy and reduce air pollution.”

Robert H. Finke & Sons Inc. is a dealer and authorized service agent of Kobelco, Bobcat, Hamm, Wirtgen and Vogele. In addition to selling, renting and repairing big-ticket items like excavators, backhoes, rubber-tire and skid steer loaders, rollers and arrowboards, Finke also sells, rents and services chainsaws, generators, plate compactors, jack hammers and pumps by Stihl, Honda and Wacker.
