The Cape Cod Times is reporting that South Yarmouth resident William Santo, 56, was trapped Monday in a piece of machinery at a construction and heavy equipment business in South Dennis, according to the police.
Dennis Police Lieutenant Peter Benson released Santo's name Tuesday. Santo was in fair condition Tuesday at South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth, according to hospital spokeswoman Sarah Darcy.
Santo was working on a piece of machinery used for hauling dumpsters when he became trapped between two parts of the machine, the police said. Another worker used a separate machine to lift the part of the dumpster-hauler that was trapping Santo and free him, the police said.
Firefighters arriving on the scene took Santo to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis first but he was diverted to the trauma center at the hospital in South Weymouth, the fire official said.
