James McHugh Construction Co. hosted a job opportunity fair April 15 for minority- and women-owned construction businesses and prospective subcontractors interested in participating in the $35-million renovation of Terminal Three at O’Hare International Airport.

The opportunity fair took place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at O’Hare’s Terminal Three in American Airlines’ West Mezzanine Conference Room, located on the upper level above the ticket counter across from door 3A.

McHugh and its joint venture partner, Riteway Construction, are overseeing renovation of the terminal, which serves American Airlines, its regional partner American Eagle, and Delta Airlines. Work is scheduled to begin this spring and continue over the next two-and-a-half years. The overall face-lift will incorporate the lower level baggage claim areas, upper-level ticketing, security checkpoint areas and restrooms, and the mezzanine-level support areas. Teams will replace the ceilings and mechanical systems above them, relocate and renovate security areas, install new terrazzo floors, update restrooms, and upgrade utilities.

The job fair was open to representatives of minority- and women-owned businesses and the subcontracting community throughout Chicago. McHugh/Riteway project team members were on hand to discuss the project, along with representatives from American Airlines; the City of Chicago; architects Murphy/Jahn, consultants TCAC Inc., and engineering consultants Environmental Systems Design Inc.

The project overview began at 10:30 a.m. For more information on the event, contact Michele Dunlap at McHugh, (312) 986-8000, extension 319.
