The Ohio Aggregates & Industrial Minerals Association (OAIMA) annual meeting and trade show was held at the Hilton at Easton in Columbus, Ohio, on Nov. 17 and 18. The event opened with a continental breakfast followed by the opening of the general session with speakers including Todd Young, OAIMA president, Mar-Zane Materials; Patrick Jacomet, OAIMA executive director; David Mustine of Jobs Ohio; and Mike Cowles and Jackie Walker of SkillsUSA.

Additional talks were given throughout the day by leading economist Richard Vedder, inspirational speaker and Marine Josh Bleill; George Reddin FMI Capital Advisers; Attorney Matt Savit; Wallace Marshall, FMI senior consultant; Andy Willis of ECSI; and Greg Lemke of Air-Land Surveys. Topics throughout the session covered a range of subjects, including trends in the materials industry, mine safety issues and drone applications in the aggregates industry.

During breaks, attendees met with representatives from local equipment dealers, national manufacturers and product and service providers to discuss the latest innovations in equipment and products in the table top exhibit area of the trade show.

The event closed with a reception sponsored by OAIMA and show exhibitors and an OA-PAC live auction conducted by Gary Seybold, Ritchie Bros auctioneer.

The OAIMA is a trade association representing the interests of Ohio's mining operations, and those involved with the production of construction materials, such as sand, gravel, crushed stone and slag as well as salt, clay, shale, gypsum, industrial sand, building stone, lime, cement and recycled concrete.
