Michael Facchiano Sr., founder, president and CEO of Michael Facchiano Contracting Inc. is celebrating 2006 with his 75th birthday and his 50th year in business.

For his birthday celebration May 8, his children Mary Jean, Michelle, John and Michael Jr. surprised Facchiano with a brand new Case 580 Super M backhoe from Groff Tractor.

“We had all of his grandkids lined up in and on the new tractor when he arrived,” said Michael Facchiano Jr. “He was taken back by the whole situation; he was very surprised.”

Facchiano has been riding on Case iron since 1976, and purchased his first Case backhoe in 1979, which is still in use today on his farm. With the new addition he has a fleet of 16 Case backhoes.

Facchiano received various other gifts in addition to the backhoe at the small celebration that was held at Brentwood Fire Hall.

“We gave him a large scale toy loader backhoe and a Case varsity jacket to honor his birthday,” said Matt May of Groff Tractor. “Michael Facchiano Contracting and Groff Tractor have developed a good working relationship with one another over the years.”

Facchiano also received a letter from the president of operations at Case Construction Equipment.

Despite being in business for 50 years, Facchiano Sr. has no plans to retire any time soon.

“He isn’t going anywhere; he doesn’t want to slow down,” Facchiano Jr. said. “He’s still out there with the crew riding his tractor everyday.”
