The “American Dream” is alive and well and thriving in New England.

For 20 years, Steve Pisani worked as a steel erector for a company that focused on crane rentals with an operator. In 2001, he saw an opportunity to start his own business with crane rentals and decided to seize the opportunity and founded Pisani Crane.

At the time when Pisani was starting his company, a Massachusetts steel erection company, DFM Industries, owned by a cousin of Pisani, directed some work toward the fledgling company. Today, Pisani Crane provides rental service throughout New England.

In just a few short years, Pisani Crane experienced tremendous growth.

“We have grown at an amazing pace because we do whatever it takes to get work and to get the jobs completed on time for our customers,” said Pisani. “We have great operators that are willing to work nights and weekends to get the job done.”

To keep pace with the work, Pisani recently purchased a Link-Belt HTC-8650 Series II, 50-ton (45 t) hydraulic crane from Woods CRW. Because he is pleased with the HTC-8650 and the Woods CRW service, Pisani is in the process of purchasing a second 50-ton crane from Woods CRW.

“We saw that our fleet could definitely fill some niches with the addition of a 50-ton hydraulic crane and we have no regrets. The machine is light and has great over the road speed and our operators love the air-ride suspension. The cab is extremely roomy and the computer controls are very simple to operate,” said Pisani.

“Once we are on the job, setup is very easy. We particularly like the Stow-n-Go outrigger pads. You don’t need to remove the pads to transport — they just slide in. It keeps transportation quick and easy. Since we have purchased the HTC-8650, we have managed to keep it very busy,” he explained.

Customer service is an important factor when making a decision to purchase heavy equipment and Woods CRW prides itself on taking care of its customers.

“We receive tremendous support from Mike Sylvia at Woods CRW. Mike is a big part of the reason that we purchased the Link-Belt. He is very easy to reach for help, even on very short notice. Woods CRW’s parts turn around has also been very good,” Pisani said.

“When we purchased the Link-Belt, Woods’ people came in and trained our operators. We have been so pleased with Woods CRW that we are now in the process of purchasing a Demag AC110 for heavy rigging and picking. We have an opportunity to do some heavy picks and we are convinced that the Demag will be the best available machine to meet those needs,” Pisani explained.

The success of Pisani Crane can be attributed to the hard work of its owner and his philosophy.

“Our company prides itself on its personal touch. My operators stay however long it is necessary to get a job done and leave the customer satisfied. We feel like we get the same level of support from Mike Sylvia and the rest of the people at Woods CRW,” Pisani concluded.
