PSC Chicago Shows Off New Facility at Open House

Nearly 500 customers, vendors and guests attended Positioning Solutions Company (PSC) Chicago’s open house and grand opening of its new building, located on 297 Commonwealth Drive in Carol Stream, Ill., Sept. 20.

The 10,000-sq.-ft. facility is a major upgrade from the company’s 3,500 sq. ft. Rolling Meadows, Ill., office that supported customers for the past 5 years.

The new facility features an expansive showroom area that will highlight new products from key vendors like: Topcon, Seco, TDS, Nikon, Bulls-Eye, Carlson Software, Aervoe Marking Paint, DeWalt, CST and more.

“We intend to highlight the newest products that our vendors offer. Especially products that our customers maybe have never seen, only read about.” said Ron Pascente, vice president of PSC.

The new building also provides PSC with 10 times the warehouse space of the old location. This will allow PSC to significantly raise its inventory levels.

“This will be a huge advantage for the customers,” said David Halbe, purchasing manager of PSC. “It will allow us to have the key inventory our customers rely on us for … always in-stock and available.”

“The blending of leading-edge products, significantly increased on-hand inventory, unmatched industry knowledge and service will provide customers with an experience that they will find nowhere else,” said Lance Puccio, branch manager of PSC Chicago.

Additionally, John Deere and PSC provided an on-site demo of the John Deere 850 completely set up with Topcon GPS and Machine Control in PSC’s 1-acre retention pond.

“Customers loved having the ability to try the dozer with GPS in a real life situation,” explained Puccio.

PSC is currently working with John Deere to provide a permanent on-site demo/test area.

“We believe that being able to drop by Positioning Solutions Company to demo the latest John Deere products with integrated Topcon Machine Control would be a tremendous opportunity, and advantage for our customers,” explained Jerry Bickner, president of PSC. “We are working hard to make this a full-time reality.”

The service department, which has long been at the heart of PSC’s customer focus, has seen significant upgrading too. The centrally located “open-air” service center allows all of the service stations to be working independently and at the same time. With both laser and optical ranges the service and repair center is set up to allow quicker turn around times for PSC customers.

“This allows our customers to get their instruments out of the shop and back into the field quicker,” said John Benjamin, PSC service technician. “Getting customers’ instruments serviced correctly and quickly so they can get back to work fast is our top priority.”

Positioning Solutions Company was recently named Topcon’s Midwest Service and Repair Center. The new service center will be a template for all future service centers.

PSC also added a new in-house training facility, which will allow customers to come into Positioning Solutions Company’s office and get all of the training that they need. Customers can choose from a variety of formats that best suits the individual needs of their businesses and staff requirements.

These training sessions will allow customers to ensure that their staff is fully trained on the equipment and software that they purchase from PSC, and to ensure that they are maximizing their investment.

In addition to the regularly scheduled training, PSC is also scheduling industry experts to come and speak on several topics that are either controversial or front-and-center on the minds of its customers. The first such topic, which is scheduled in November, helps the surveying community understand and find ways to work with the ever expanding machine control driven construction industry.
