ROMCO Equipment Co., an SMT company, celebrated the opening of its newest branch in Amarillo with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 28, 2026, marking the company's 17th location and expanding its presence across Texas.

Customers, manufacturers, employees and local officials gathered for the ribbon cutting before touring the new facility and equipment displays. The celebration included a barbecue lunch as attendees visited with ROMCO personnel and industry partners.

The Amarillo branch joins ROMCO's nearby locations in El Paso, Midland, Lubbock as well as Artesia, NM. The dealership offers equipment sales, rentals, parts and service while providing customers with access to ROMCO's full equipment portfolio.

"We now carry Volvo Construction Equipment for the whole state of Texas," said Steve Passmore, president of ROMCO Equipment. "For our customers that work in different regions of the state, it gives them a very convenient solution. They're able to work with ROMCO for all their equipment needs."

Situated on approximately 5 acres, the facility includes three service bays, a wash bay and a dedicated demonstration area. Branch Manager Bob Nabours said the location will support customers throughout the Texas Panhandle, including Potter, Randall, Armstrong, Carson, Moore, Hartley, Dallam and surrounding counties.

Passmore said Amarillo's continued growth and the opportunity to establish a local presence made it a natural choice for ROMCO's newest location.

"It's an exciting market," Passmore said. "There's a lot of construction activity. You also have agriculture, cattle feeding operations and dairy operations, and data center growth is really taking off in this region."

Nabours said the branch's focus is straightforward.

"Just providing customers the best customer service that we can is probably the biggest thing to me," Nabours said.

Passmore said opening a new branch is a significant milestone for the company and reflects ROMCO's long-term commitment to the Texas Panhandle.

"We're big culture people," Passmore said. "We're very employee-focused, but I think that translates to our customers because they're part of the ROMCO family as well. We always do the right thing by our customers and make our decisions based on the long-term relationship."

"We've got a beautiful location, there's room for us to expand and we're here to stay," Passmore said.
