Simformotion LLC — a leader in heavy equipment simulator development — is pleased to announce that John Escarcega of Eloy, Ariz., has been awarded the 2016-2017 Cat simulators scholarship. He will receive $2,000 to support his pursuit of a heavy equipment-related career.

Applications were accepted from students enrolled in an accredited heavy equipment-related program at an institution that utilizes Cat simulators as part of their training program or curriculum. Escarcega is currently enrolled in the Heavy Equipment and Diesel Technology program at Central Arizona College.

His experience with heavy equipment began nearly four decades ago with the United States Army where he worked on equipment ranging from M60 tanks to UH-1 Huey helicopters. When he recently made the decision to return to school and began looking into degree programs, he was impressed with the programs at Central Arizona College and made the decision to enroll.

“Everything counts in simulator training,” said Escarcega. “Training with Cat simulators is very real in tasks, conditions and standards. Using them is getting us ready for the real world.”

Simformotion has been awarding the Cat simulators scholarship since 2011.

“We are seeing an increased need for skilled professionals in many of the industries that we serve so effective training is needed now more than ever,” said Renee Gorrell, vice president. “Our scholarship is one way we can encourage students to explore heavy equipment related careers and support the schools and training organizations that invest in the programs that contribute to the growth and sustainability of industries like construction, mining and forestry.”

Applications for the 2017-2018 Cat simulators scholarship will be accepted beginning in January 2017. Applications can be downloaded at www.catsimulators.com/scholarships/ or email [email protected] to request an application form. Anyone meeting the qualifications may submit an application, regardless of where they live in the world.
