Construction Equipment Guide

Summers Equipment, owned by G. P. “Perry” Summers, has opened a Volvo CE Rents center at 1749 US Highway 23 North in Prestonsburg, KY. Summers Equipment’s rental center is the second franchise in Kentucky. The first center was opened in 2003 in Crittenden, KY.

The new Prestonsburg facility is independently owned and operated. In addition to Volvo construction equipment, the center will carry a comprehensive line of equipment and tools for the construction, commercial, industrial and homeowner markets. Principal Volvo products for its rental franchises include compact excavators and wheel loaders, and backhoe and skid steer loaders.

The Volvo CE Rents franchise program covers all aspects of an operating rental business model and was designed and developed by Volvo Construction Equipment Rents Inc. for a specific market in the equipment rental business.

Program features include use of the Volvo brand, financial assistance, a fleet purchasing program for non-Volvo products, a Volvo CE Rents software program, training, facility design and regional and local marketing.

Volvo CE Rents, which began its equipment rental franchise initiative in 2001, now has equipment rental centers open in Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, California, Tennessee, Ohio, South Carolina, Louisiana, New York, Minnesota, Arkansas, New Jersey, Alabama, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania.

In addition to these franchises, the company has franchise development agreements signed with other North American business interests seeking independently owned and operated franchise opportunities in the equipment rental business.
