Superior Industries Inc., introduced an alternative conveyor idler solution for controlling harmful material buildup. Known as Urathon return rolls, these self-cleaning rolls are said to last three-times longer than traditional rubber disc rolls in the same application. Material buildup on idlers and pulleys is the leading cause of belt mistracking.

Superior’s Urathon return rolls are available in CEMA B, C, D and E classes and can be manufactured to accommodate belt widths up to 96-in. (244 cm). A spiral version of the return rolls is available for material producers looking for extra belt cleaning. In addition to belt cleaners, the spiral Urathon return rolls will work to clean the dirty side of a conveyor belt.
