Tracey Road Equipment unveiled the all new and widely anticipated Oshkosh H series single engine blower on Aug. 13, 2019, to upstate New York airport authorities and municipalities.

The new blower, with its new compact design, is as nimble as it gets, and Oshkosh's engineers designed a blower head that perfectly matches vehicle horsepower to match out efficiencies, according to the company.

Managing engine rpm is no longer a focus of the operator's attention with the new Oshkosh H series. The Oshkosh Work Control syncs the blower with the wheels so that the operator can focus all attention on what lies ahead.

"This machine was originally designed as an alternative to our larger model, which is primarily used in the airport market," said Tim Donahue, regional sales manager of Oshkosh Airport Products. "However, with this compact size and maneuverability, we are seeing a lot of interest from DOTs across the country."

This truck is well-suited for applications where there is a significant snowfall that needs to be blown out of the way. However, it is equally useful for many municipalities that have situations where snow needs to be loaded into trucks to be hauled off site.

"For a smaller version of our bigger machines the H series is a work horse," Donahue said. "It can process 3,000 tons of snow per hour and it can project the snow to distances between 75 and 150 feet. The truck also features all-wheel steering, which gives the flexibility of front wheel steer, or coordinated front and rear wheel steering, giving the truck a turning radius of 48-feet. The system also allows for crab steering, meaning both the front and rear wheels point in the same direction. To top it all off the operator can opt to use rear wheel steering using the joystick inside the cab."

One of the strongest features of this blower is the Scania DC 13 12.7-liter diesel engine, which requires no regeneration, therefore no DPF filter. All of which means the truck does not have to be stopped to be put into regeneration mode, Donahue said. CEG
