Volvo Construction Equipment Prepares for Intermat

Wed April 12, 2006 - National Edition
Construction Equipment Guide

Among the largest exhibitors at this year’s largest show, Volvo Construction Equipment will be concentrating its efforts at Intermat less on individual products than on how ’systems’ of products can be formed to provide complete solutions for job-site applications.

The company’s show area will display the latest products and services from the company — focusing on how they can work together to provide customers with solutions in a range of work-site applications.

The overall theme of the exhibit is ’More Care. Built In,’ with a emphasis on how Volvo machines have been designed to work together to provide solutions in a range of job-site applications. The company’s longstanding core value of improving site safety and reducing construction related accidents and illnesses, also is clearly evident.

The 37,000-sq.-ft. main indoor arena is divided into popular applications, such as “General Construction,” “Aggregate/Quarrying” and “Waste management.” Products on display are similarly broken down into the most appropriate models to suit those customer groups, complete with options, attachments and safety solutions fitted.

The newest product to the Volvo portfolio, the G900 Series of motorgraders is set apart for star treatment, but a clear emphasis of the display will be to highlight the real world benefits of buying a range of different machines from a single supplier.

The customer solutions approach also is reflected in the “soft products” offered by the company. Volvo personnel will be on hand to discuss the specific requirements in terms of finance, customer support, remarketing, engine developments, etc.

Innovation is another key element of the Volvo show, with the remote monitoring of equipment possible via the new CareTrack system. Volvo CE’s designers also have been given the task of imagining how wheel loaders, backhoe loaders and skid steers might look in the year 2020

The 27,000-sq.-ft. outside area will act as the training ground, where spectators will be able to view a range of tracked excavators, from the largest 77-ton (70 t) EC700BLC to one of the smallest, the 1.7-ton (1.6 t) EC20 XTV. Wheeled excavators EW160B also will be in attendance, as will the L25B, L35B and the fundamentally revised L150E wheel loaders. The A30D articulated hauler will act as a material mover, and is fitted with the Automatic Traction Control system, which selects the best drive combination for the conditions.

On-highway tippers from sister company Volvo Trucks also will be helping out with the display.

But the star of Volvo CE’s outside area will be the new G946B motorgrader. There are seven models in the G900 range, (including two all-wheel drive machines) that have been designed to combine the attributes of productivity, operator friendliness, reliability and ease of service.

The message of the Volvo CE “customer solutions” approach is that buying a range of application dedicated machines not only produces more efficient systems (as they are tailored to work with one another) but also reduces parts stockholding requirements and allows the after sales support to be more comprehensive.

Intermat runs April 24 to 29 in Paris, France.
