ST. PETERS, Mo. (AP) The next phase of a significant road improvement project is beginning in St. Charles County.

The Page Avenue Extension, or Route 364, already runs from Interstate 270 in St. Louis County into the St. Peters area. On Oct. 1, ground was to be broken on a $44 million project to extend the highway another 2 mi. (3.2 km).

The Missouri Department of Transportation hopes drivers will use the extension to get to I-270, relieving congestion on interstates 64 and 70. The extension is expected to be completed by 2012.
