Caterpillar has announced five new high flow specific, performance-matched work tools for use on Caterpillar 228 and 248 high flow skid steer loaders. Like the machines they were designed for, these work tools provide increased versatility and productivity capabilities for a variety of specialized high production jobs.
Caterpillar’s work tool objective focuses on providing machine-work tool system solutions to help customers accomplish specific tasks more economically. All Caterpillar work tools are designed and built to provide maximum performance, durability and reliability in a variety of work environments. In addition, Caterpillar and its worldwide dealer network can assure fast delivery of work tools anywhere the need arises.
New Caterpillar high flow work tools include:
PC6 and PC9 Cold Planers
Caterpillar introduced two models of high flow cold planers — the PC6 and PC9. Both units incorporate an axial piston/double reduction planetary system that provides optimal drum speed, torque and flywheel momentum for high production planing in asphalt and concrete. The PC6 has a 61-centimeter (24 in.) milling drum width, whereas the PC9 has a 81-centimeter (32 in.) milling drum width.
Both models require high flow hydraulics to run the motor, and standard flow hydraulics to operate the depth, tilt and side-shift functions. Optional bit teeth and water kits are available.
SG18 Stump Grinder
The new high flow Caterpillar SG18 stump grinder offers excellent torque and cutting wheel speed to efficiently remove stumps in residential and commercial landscaping applications. The heavy-duty, high performance design incorporates a durable, direct-drive system that generates approximately 503 N (370 lb/ft) of torque at a maximum operating pressure of 4,500 psi. A variable speed, unidirectional high torque motor matches the high flow auxiliary hydraulic output of the Caterpillar 228 and 248 high flow skid steer loaders for maximum system performance.
Cutting is accomplished with a heavy-duty 56-centimeter (22 in.) diameter cutting wheel with 32 bolt-on carbide teeth. Standard features include: electro-hydraulically adjustable cutting head, boom swing (70 degrees) and boom extension, plus adjustable stand feet.
T15 Trencher
The new high flow Caterpillar T15 trencher provides enhanced chain speed and chain pull to productively cut trenches to a depth of 152-centimeters (60 in.) and a width of 30.5 centimeters (12 in.). The heavy-duty, high performance design incorporates a durable, direct-drive system that generates approximately 3,086 N (2,269 lb/ft) of torque at a maximum pressure of 4,500 ps
Standard T15 features include: 152-centimeter (60 in.) boom, 15-centimeter (6 in.) cutting width, hardfaced cupped teeth, electro-hydraulic sideshift capability and bolt-on spoil auger, making it suitable for all-purpose trenching. Options include various cutting widths, 122-centimeter (48 in.) boom, crumber bar shoes and rock teeth, giving the T15 trencher additional application capabilities.
A26 Auger
The new high flow Caterpillar A26 auger provides increased speed and torque capabilities for extreme duty, high performance hole drilling. The heavy-duty design incorporates a gear motor/double reduction planetary drive system that generates 7,079 N (5,238 lb/ft) of torque at a maximum operating pressure of 4,500 psi.
A full range of auger bits is available for drilling 15- to 91-centimeter (6 to 36 in.) diameter holes.
