Highway Equipment & Supply in Harrisburg, Pa., Hosts Rep. Barletta

The representative came to talk about highway funding.

- Northeast Edition

Rep. Lou Barletta visited Highway Equipment & Supply Co. in Harrisburg, Pa. on Sept. 4.

While there, the representative of Pennsylvania's 11th Congressional District, spoke with Highway Equipment &Supply employees and invited guests about transportation issues, as well as prospects for a long-term highway bill.

While not confident a long-term funding bill will happen by the end of the year, Barletta, who currently serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure committee, as well as the Counterterrorism and Intelligence and Education and the Workforce committees, nevertheless outlined some of his funding source ideas that he hopes will gain traction in the House, such as a modest increase in the federal motor fuel tax, repatriation, and vehicle miles travelled.

Barletta was elected to the House of Representatives in 2011 after serving as Hazleton, Pa.'s mayor, a position for which he was elected in 2000.
