In a bid to streamline production and gain efficiencies of scale, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) announced that, as part of a strengthening of its industrial footprint in the Americas, regional production of backhoe loaders will move from its current production facility, in Tultitl√°n, Mexico, to a newly enlarged facility in Pederneiras, Brazil.

The RMC Research & Education Foundation has released its self-consolidating concrete (SCC) formwork pressure study, titled “Evaluation of SCC Formwork Pressure.” The project was conducted by the Universit√© De Sherbrooke, Purdue University, Northwestern University and the CTL Group with co-funding from the American Concrete Institute’s Strategic Development Council (ACI-SDC).

Bobcat Company is transferring all North American machinery production to its original manufacturing facility in Gwinner, N.D. This will result in discontinuing production at Bobcat’s Bismarck, N.D., plant by the end of 2009. Currently, Bobcat mini excavators, the Toolcat utility work machine, the S70 skid steer loader and mini track loaders are made in Bismarck, while all other Bobcat skid steer loaders, compact track loaders, and all-wheel steer loaders are manufactured in Gwinner.

David Spainhour, manager of Midco Demolition Tool Company in Dallas, TX, has had an interest in hydraulic hammers from an early age and has spent the last 40-plus years repairing, remanufacturing and selling hydraulic hammers. Continental Equipment Co., the Komatsu dealer for north Texas, has consolidated its entire Utility Equipment Division into the Lewisville, TX, facility as of July 2004. According to Mike Detzler, president of Continental Equipment, the company moved all of its assets into a common area for more efficient management.

“There are many avenues when it comes to marketing your products,” said David Spainhour, owner of Midco Demolition Tools in Dallas, TX. “We have tried multiple mediums and have settled with two that are proving to be very effective.”According to Spainhour, one of those mediums is static and the other is anything but static.

As part of its global re-engineering efforts, Komatsu has announced that, effective April 1, 2002, its North American operations, Komatsu America Corp., Komatsu America International Company, Komatsu Mining Systems Inc., Komatsu Utility Corp., DataKom Inc.

Nortrax, Inc. has announced that it has consolidated operations with Nortrax II to form John Deere’s largest Construction & Forestry Division dealer organization. The company will continue to be jointly owned by CSFB Private Equity, L. P. and Deere & Company.
