PIRTEK’s presence in the Twin Cities area — where PIRTEK was established in the United States — will be stronger than ever with the opening of a third location. Michael Johnson will bring hose and fitting replacement services directly to customer job sites with his new PIRTEK Hose Center that opened at 1409 Cliff Road East in Burnsville, Minn., on April 30, 2012.

The center joins PIRTEK franchises in Midway, which opened in 1996, and Plymouth that has been in operation since 1997.

Minimizing equipment downtime is the calling for the mobile-based business. In fact, when a customer calls for help, PIRTEK Burnsville mobile service technicians will arrive at the job site within one hour — ready to size up equipment needs, remove failed hydraulic hose assemblies, manufacture replacement assemblies on location and install them, and make sure the machine is back up and running before leaving the job site.

Perfectly Aligned With PIRTEK

“During my 32-year professional career, I’ve always been heavily involved with sales,” said Johnson. “I really love sales, as well as training activities, and now I can’t wait to get started selling PIRTEK mobile services in Burnsville.”

But sales skills are only one aspect that puts Johnson in alignment with PIRTEK franchise ownership. He previously was divisional president at a local company that specializes in machine tools, as well as hydraulic components such as pumps, valves, power units and electrohydraulic products.

“I’ve been directly involved with hydraulics and the overall industry during the last 22 years,” Johnson said. “Meanwhile, being a longtime resident here in Lakeville [Minnesota] has given me a good understanding of the Twin Cities area and its industrial pockets and service needs.”

Their role as local business co-owners will enable Johnson and his wife Mary to remain near their family — a priority for the couple, who will make the business a shared responsibility. While he dons the cap of franchise owner, Mary will handle payroll and benefit functions.

Three Mobile Service Vans Will Hit the Road

Businesses south of the Minnesota River needing rapid hose replacements —from construction and manufacturing accounts to scrap yards and farmers — will all benefit from PIRTEK Burnsville’s three mobile service vans that will be stocked with everything needed to manufacture hose assemblies at job sites. The vans will carry a large selection of hoses and fittings, including braided and spiral hose styles and standard and metric hose fittings and adapters. Each van’s high-capacity crimp machine will have the capability to produce crimp hose assemblies from ¼- to 1¼-in. (.6 to 3 cm) diameters.

“The PIRTEK franchises in Midway and Plymouth have done a great job servicing the city and creating brand awareness and quality service recognition,” Johnson said. “We will follow in their well-established footsteps by working hard to reduce customers’ downtime and its costs with our hose-assembly ’shops’ on wheels.”

Serving as home base for its mobile fleet, PIRTEK Burnsville’s Hose Center on Cliff Road also will be a convenient hose assembly source for walk-in customers. Like the mobile service vans, it will be stocked with a wide variety of hoses, fittings, and adapters for made-to-order hose assemblies.

Service will be available around the clock by calling 952/895-5400. The Hose Center will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
