Modern Machinery held its annual Paving Day seminar at its Kent, Wash., location on Feb 23. Although the weather was less than cooperative, 92 attendees were on hand to hear the latest information on paving, milling and compaction practices and equipment.

Two morning sessions focused on compaction techniques and paving practices. The presenters were impressed by the engagement of the attendees and the questions asked. The afternoon session was focused on milling techniques and the role of a good milled surface in preparation of a good mat.

Jeremy Wittner of Carlson Paving Products hosted the last session, which was focused at Carlson screed set up and maintenance. Wittner had a wealth of information to share with the crowd.

According to Jim Hassebrock, region manager of Modern Machinery, “Although the elements worked against us, we accomplished what we started out trying to accomplish. We strengthened Modern's position in the pavement/highway market segment; we introduced some new customers to our product line; and established the Wirtgen/Carlson/Modern brand as a leader in the market.”
