Strong communities depend on organizations that can serve without interruption. As Western New York's demand for hunger-relief programs and services continues to grow, FeedMore WNY is increasing its capacity through a new centralized campus to serve more neighbors in need.

The new 197,700-sq-ft facility will expand food distribution, prepared meal services, free workforce development training and nutrition education for years to come.

Supporting a mission of this scale requires more than additional space; it leans on resilient infrastructure that quietly keeps critical services moving. Last year, FeedMore WNY served nearly 171,000 individuals across four counties — a 51 percent increase since 2021. By helping power the systems behind the scenes, Caterpillar enables organizations like FeedMore WNY to focus on what matters most: serving their communities.

“Our mission is to provide dignity, hope and brighter futures through nutritious food, friendship and skills training,” said Catherine Shick chief communications officer, FeedMore WNY. “As the needs of our community continue to grow, this new facility is designed to help us serve our neighbors today and for generations to come.”

Supporting the Mission for the Long Term

Designing FeedMore WNY's new campus required more than increasing its power supply. It required an energy strategy that could withstand extreme weather and deliver continuous power, ensuring the organization stays focused on serving its community through any adversity. During an outage, the power system helps keep critical operations running, from hydroponic gardens to food preparation, refrigeration, workspaces and other essential facility systems, so food can continue moving to the people who depend on it.

Working alongside the project's architects and engineering team, Milton CAT supported the implementation of an integrated Caterpillar solution tailored to the facility's current operational needs and future growth.

The solution combines six Cat CG18 natural gas generator sets with Cat AMP energy management software, Cat paralleling controls and VisionLink, providing a fully integrated power solution for resilient, scalable power. Together, the system provides real-time monitoring of all power sources, efficiently manages energy use and supports rapid response during outages, peak demand periods and routine maintenance.

While VisionLink and condition monitoring proactively monitor generator set health, Cat AMP continuously monitors facility energy demand and utility conditions to help ensure power is available when it's needed while optimizing operating costs behind the scenes. The platform provides 24/7 asset monitoring, enabling Milton CAT to identify potential issues early and respond quickly.

For FeedMore WNY, those capabilities translate into more than operational efficiency. Reliable energy helps protect a mission that can't pause, while every dollar saved on energy can help provide more meals, strengthen food security and expand services for neighbors across Western New York.

Beyond The Installation

Every day, FeedMore WNY focuses on its mission of serving those in need. Behind the scenes, dependable equipment support, responsive service, technical expertise and access to parts through their Cat dealer help ensure their operations continue uninterrupted, allowing their team to concentrate on the people who rely on them.

“FeedMore WNY's impact on the community is extraordinary,” said Nate Button, vice president for Cat Electric Power. “We're proud to provide the resilient energy solution that helps support their mission today while giving them the flexibility and confidence to grow in the future.”

As FeedMore WNY continues to build its impact across Western New York, Milton CAT and Caterpillar are committed to delivering the reliable energy foundation that sustains their noble work every day.
